GMAT Status

Postby aajackson » Thu Jan 08, 2009 8:28 pm

Where does one look for current GMAT status.
I have used it sometimes here at JSC for validation unit testing of our developing orbit dynamics software....
but am busy enough to not keep up with things.
Documentation updated since about a year ago?
Gravity gradient torques available?
Solid body tides modeled yet?
Thanks

The GMAT forums is the best place to look for recent public GMAT status.

Currently, we're working on:
- implementing OD into GMAT
- streamline GUI panels
- close bugs and march forward to stable release by Q4 of 2009
- implementing STM propagation
- Implementing Spice file reader
- test, test, test

Please contact the user shughes at Goddard for more information on our future work. I know solid tide modeling is on the table to implement, but I just don't know when we plan on getting to it.

This is DI5 at Schafer. I have been assigned to upgrade GMAT attitude dynamics. I have my own 6DOF simulation that includes gravity gradient and will be working this year to add that capability to GMAT. I'm brand new to GMAT so please be patient while I learn both to use the application, and also to find my way around the source code. I do have help, so we should eventually get that capability running. We should also have initial placeholders for aerodynamic torques in LEO, photon torques in all orbits, and magnetic interaction with the Earth's magnetic field. Maybe with some smart help we can have magnetic interaction with any celestial body that has a field.
