Virus detected in latest libvf13optimizer.dll

Postby JTichy » Wed Oct 21, 2009 2:42 pm

My virus software picked up a virus in the latest libvf13optimizer.dll

It called the virus Win32.TrojanPWS.Firefox/A

Any thoughts?

Ad-Aware was the software that detected this particular Trojan. The name suggests that it is a password stealer. Its either that this Trojan lodged itself into the dll build or a function inside the build exhibits the same characteristics of this Trojan. Either way, the only way Ad-Aware can clean the file is to remove it, which prevents GMAT from opening. I downloaded the file multiple times from the ftp server and each and every time Ad-Aware detected the same trojan and deleted the dll.

I don't think this is a cause for alarm. It's most likely a false detection by Ad-Aware. I'll notify the developers.
I would rely on your virus software and not ad-aware on whether this file is a threat.

libvf13optimizer.dll is also not required to run GMAT. It's simply a plugin dll used so users can run an optimizer in GMAT without having to call Matlab and use fmincon.

I just ran Symantec AntiVirus on it but found no virus.
