Compiling a console-only version on a Red Hat 7 server

I would like to find out if it's possible to compile a console-only version (or at least a version with a console interface in addition to the GUI) on a Red Hat 7 linux server. I would like to just be able to feed batch scripts into GMAT without having to bother with the GUI and also not have to worry about my Windows workstation being rebooted at random times for updates  . I've done some searching and found some hints that GMAT can be run from the command line without the GUI, but this doesn't seem to be discussed in the user guide.

Another related question is: can I install GMAT for just my user (without root privileges) or will I need the IT team to install it?
