Reading Ephemeris

Postby TravisD » Thu Jul 30, 2015 2:05 pm

I am having trouble finding information about reading an ephemeris. All that I am looking for is to take a text input ephemeris file from another program and use it in GMAT. Is that not possible?

It is possible, just not in a text format right now. We can propagate from an SPK (SPICE) ephemeris file, see below:

Hi,

I'm a student in the 2 nd year and i am very interested in orbital mechanics and simulation. GMAT is a tool with wich i spend very much time (more than Kerbal)
Can you explain me what a spice-kernal is for. Or a link with good resource. This is not the kind of stuff we lwarn in our lectures....but more interesting

Cheers
